Backstage photograph at a Harlem fashion show in 1950 by Eve Arnold (born Eve Cohen). Arnold was famous for her sometimes revealing photographs of Marylyn Monroe. Foreshadowing the celebrity portfolios of photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Eve Arnold captured Joan Crawford squirming into a girdle and James Cagney and his wife doing an impromptu dance in a barn. Arnold died, age 99 in January this year.

Marilyn Monroe photographed by Eve Arnold in 1961. Eve Arnold, was an American photojournalist and her images of Marilyn Monroe on the set of the actress’s last film, The Misfits (1961) were iconic, but she had taken many photos of Monroe from 1951 onwards. Her previously unseen photos of Monroe were shown at an Halcyon Gallery exhibition in London during May 2005. Eve Arnold was 99 when she died last January.
